Abstract:

Background: Our Background was to evaluate the effect of ovarian endometrioma on ovarian stimulation outcomes in Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI). Materials and Methods: In this prospective cohort study, we followed 103 patients underwent ICSI procedures at royan Institute during 10 month. The study group consisted of 46 women who had endometriomawith size more than 1 cm. The control group included 57 patients with male-factor infertility. The standard long protocol with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH-a) and recombinant follicle stimulating hormone (rFSH) was used for ovarian stimulation. Two groups were compared for number of oocytes retrieved, oocytes grades, embryo quantity and quality. We also performed inter group comparison in patients with unilateral endometrioma. Results: There were no significant differences about basal characteristics between endometrioma and control groups. Our results also showed similar endometrial thickness, follicle numbers, and good embryo grades (grade A or B) in compared groups. Two groups had similar pregnancy rate. However, patients with endometrioma had higher gonadotropin consumption compared with control group. The mean number of retrieved oocytes in patients with endometrioma was 6.6 ± 3.74 compared with control group 10.4 ± 5.25 (p

I-47: ART Outcome in PCOS Patients

PCOS is still a problem in gynecology and infertility. Especially in ART the problem of PCOS patients is bigger and more highlighted. These patients are prone to over and under stimulation. Strategies to overcome hyper stimulation are: use of metformin, ovarian drilling, use of minimal stimulation, suppressing LH with use of OCP or GnRh analogues, use of GnRh antagonist in COH. But none of thes...

I-31: The Scientific Underpinning of ART in Unexplained Infertility

Although intra uterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF) are widely accepted treatments among doctors and patients and practiced on large scale, it is good to realize that they have rarely been evaluated properly in randomized clinical trials or even in comparative cohort studies. Although the first pregnancy after IUI was established in 1884, it was not until 2008 that the fi...

I-31: New Approaches for Luteal Phase Support in ART Cycles

Background During a normal menstrual cycle, progesterone prepares the endometrium for pregnancy by stimulating proliferation in response to human chorionic Gnadotropin produced by the corpus luteum. Many questions were raised about the role of follicular fluid aspiration on the granuloma cells at the time of oocyte retrieving during the ART cycles. Authors believes that oocyte retrieval might d...

I-20: Sclerotherapy in Recurrent Endometrioma

Endometriosis as a common hormone-dependent gynecologic disease is seen in 10-15% of women of reproductive age. On the other hand, 20-50% of women with infertility have endometriosis and 30-50% women with endometrioma are infertile. One of severe form of endometriosis is endometrioma. Surgery is considered as essential treatment for endometrioma with the recurrence rate of 10%. Many researches ...

I-21: Management of Endometrioma

Endometrioma is defined as an ovarian pseudocyst arising from growth of ectopic endometrial tissue, which progressively invaginates the ovarian cortex . Nearly17-44% of women with endometriosis also have endometriomas.
